FAQs
Can a representative come to our event?
1
We are entirely volunteer run so our capacity for external events is limited.
When do you stock the fridges?
2
Our fridges are stocked by our volunteers depending on our availability and the availability of donated food. Any person or group is able to donate to a fridge at any time so there is no way for us to know precisely when the next donation drop will be. For the most up to date information on donations from our team, we suggest joining our Discord or following our Instagram.
Do you host corporate volunteering events?
3
Not at this time but feel free to organize your own volunteering event for your group. Many groups choose to clean fridges together, host their own cook days and distribute prepared meals to the fridges or host their food drive.
Yes, we are!

How do I set up/host a fridge at my place of business?
5
We determine fridge locations within the RVA Community Fridges network based on community feedback and a specific voting process. However, we encourage people to start their own community fridge even if it is not listed in our network and are happy to help you navigate best practices to get you started! We also have a “How to Set Up a Community Fridge” zine with helpful tips and tricks for your reference.
I want to make a large donation, how would
I go about that?
6
You can send a large donation here, through our OpenCollective, via check to our P.O. Box, or ACH deposit (please contact for more information.)
What exactly do donated funds go to?
7
We aim to keep our overhead expenses as low as possible so that the majority of our donations go towards our mission and not administrative costs. Our biggest expenses are rent on our kitchen space and a modest salary for our executive director and founder Taylor. We are grateful to be in a network of such generous community members who volunteer their time and services to keep our costs low and allow us to use our funds to go back into the community.
